Minister for Endowments Kottu Satyanarayana criticised the opposition Telugu Desam, BJP, and Jana Sena parties for focussing on alliances and conspiracies rather than the welfare of the people in the upcoming elections. He expressed his concern over the declining popularity of the Jana Sena and accused its leader, Pawan Kalyan, of spreading false propaganda against the YSRCP government. Minister Satyanarayana compared forming an alliance with Chandrababu to holding an electricity transformer, implying potential risks and challenges.
Addressing the media on Tuesday, Deputy CM Satyanarayana emphasised that YSRC MP (Rajya Sabha) Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose is a dedicated leader of the party. He dismissed claims of internal disputes within the YSRC party, attributing such narratives to biased coverage by the Telugu Desam-supporting media. The minister asserted that YSRC plans to contest the 2024 elections independently, relying on Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s governance, which is centered on welfare and development.
Minister Satyanarayana also disclosed the government’s plans to classify temples based on their income, aimed at enhancing facilities for devotees across the state. Currently, temples are categorised into three groups based on income, each managed under the supervision of Assistant Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, or Regional Joint Commissioners. However, the income limits for these categories will be revised to ensure better management and administration.
The proposed changes include elevating temples with an income between Rs 2 crore to Rs 7 crore to the Assistant Commissioner’s jurisdiction, temples earning between Rs 7 crore to Rs 12 crore to the Deputy Commissioner’s authority, and temples with an income above Rs 12.00 crore under the purview of a Joint Commissioner. This reclassification will result in an increase in the number of Assistant Commissioner posts to 5 and Deputy Commissioner posts to 15, while one Regional Joint Commissioner post will be abolished. Notably, these adjustments can be achieved within the current cadre strength of officers, without requiring additional positions.
Additionally, Minister Satyanarayana mentioned the High Court’s decision to withdraw executive officers from grade-1, 2, and 3 temples with an income of less than Rs. 5 lakh, in adherence to the court’s orders.
