Special Chief Secretary Energy K Vijayanand, appreciating the efforts of APTRANSCO in winning SKOCH awards, has said that several states including Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, etc. evinced keen interest in AP’s model. He requested the government to share the best practices, particularly in the day ahead forecasting model of APTRANSCO, various green energy projects of APGENCO, NREDCAP and energy efficiency programmes of APSECM, etc.
Vijayanand said that APTRANSCO initiated the implementation of a Geographical Information System (GIS) that facilitates better Network Maintenance and Monitoring Information System with an objective to maintain assets of all Extra High Tension (EHT) Network elements comprising details of 63,000 towers, 30,010 Circuit kilometers (ckm) of line length and 358 EHT Substations equipment. He stated that an exclusive GIS division was formed, and entire network data was mapped geographically onto a single platform which helped the Power System Engineers to conduct System Studies efficiently.
Vijayanand stated that apart from GIS, APTRANSCO is taking measures to reduce transmission losses by under 2.8 percent. APSLDC (State Load Dispatch Center) has developed an in-house forecasting model by using more sophisticated Artificial Intelligence & Machine learning methods with an accuracy of 97% to 99%. He mentioned that the developed demand forecast model by APSLDC using Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the first of its kind in the power utilities across the nation.
CMD APTRANSCO B Sreedhar said that APTRANSCO will put all out efforts and take strong steps to become the best power transmission Utility in the country.
