The Telangana government organised the valedictory function of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of India’s Independence on a grand scale at the HiCC convention centre in Hyderabad on Friday.
The cultural programmes at the venue displayed the spirit of India’s freedom struggle and the development of Telangana.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said, “I am happy to note that 30 lakh students watched the movie ‘Gandhi.’
He congratulated the State Information and Public Relations Department and the Education Department for doing an exemplary job.
The Chief Minister spoke about Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Raj Guru, and Subash Chandra Bose.
KCR said that the dream of a Telangana State was realised only because of the TS movement launched in the Gandhian way within the framework of the Constitution.
He said that the idea of a hunger strike came from Gandhi’s thoughts. “Some intellectuals said that British rule was good during the Independence struggle. Such people were there during the Telangana movement too. They tried to mislead people by shamelessly announcing that they do not want a Telangana State. Unity helped us to achieve the goal. All their attempts failed before our commitment,” the CM said.“Now, the strange thing is they are the ones who are now preparing to teach us about the Telangana Movement. The TS Movement is a role model. The Telangana administration is also functioning as per the hopes of the masses who took part in the freedom struggle,” the CM said.
KCR said that the BRS government solved the agricultural crisis. He said that no government has succeeded in providing safe drinking water to everyone. Telangana has set an example for the country regarding this, he said.
KCR said the government is giving equal importance to villages and cities and tribals, Dalits, minorities and the upper caste poor. Telangana is moving forward with an integrated, inclusive, comprehensive development model. Now, the Telangana model is the country’s guiding force, he added.
He said that Telangana is fulfilling the hopes of those who fought for Independence by taking the fruits of development to everyone.
“Ours is the path of justice and dharma. We are concerned about everyone’s welfare. All round development is our objective. Success will come to all of us. Let’s fulfil the hopes of our freedom fighters. Let’s keep Telangana in the forefront of nation-building,” he concluded.
