Outflows from projects up, danger averted on Kadem

Gates of several projects in the Godavari Basin have been lifted due to huge inflows into Singur, Nizam Sagar, Sri Ram Sagar, Kaddam Narayana Reddy Project, and Sripada Yellampally project. The danger of flooding at Nirmal District’s Kadem Project has been averted as the flood subsided for the project.

In the morning, more than 3 lakh cusecs of the flood came to the project. In the morning, the flood flowed from the dam. At present, the flood has reduced to 1.30 lakh cusecs in the Kadem project.

Officials are releasing water through 16 gates. In the morning four gates were raised and engineers lifted two gates.

Kadem project currently has an outflow of 2.30 lakh cusecs. Meanwhile, the flood is receding even in the Bhainsa Gaddenna Vagu project. Five gates of the project are being lifted and 92,482 cusecs of water are being released. The flow of 73,792 cusecs into the project is declining.

The flood is increasing heavily for the Sriramsagar project. Three lakh cusecs of inflow into the project. In all, 32 gates of the project are being raised and 2.5 lakh cusecs are being released downstream. 4000 cusecs are released into Godavari through escape gates through power generation.

The current water level of the Sriramsagar project is 1088.7 feet. The full water level is 1091 feet. The current water level in the project is 78.66 TMC. The full water level is 90 tmcft.

Rajarajeswara Mid Manair in Rajanna Sircilla is flooded due to torrential rains. Officials lifted 22 gates and released the water to the Lower Manair.

The project is receiving heavy flow from the upper Manair reservoirs of Nirmala along with the Vemulawada headwaters. At present inflow of 1.05 lakh cusecs is coming to Mid Manair reservoir.

Officials released a flood of 1.10 lakh cusecs downstream. The water storage capacity of the dam is 27.5 tmcft. Currently, 18.82 tmcft of water is stored.

Irrigation Department Chief Engineer Srinivas and RDO Bhujangarao released the water on Thursday evening as the heavy flood water was coming to the Nizamsagar project.

Due to the heavy rains upstream, the flood intensity of the project is high and in view of the emergency, the gates are being lifted and released downstream.

The project officials revealed that the project will get an inflow of 26,800 cusecs from the upstream area. The full water level of the project is 1405 feet and currently, the water has reached 1403 feet.

He explained that the water storage capacity of the project is 17.802 tmcft while the current water storage is 14.568 tmcft.

People of the Nizamsagar catchment area have been asked to be alert due to water release. The people of the area around the main water channel and the herdsmen have been asked to be careful.
