Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has directed officials to ensure that the salaries of employees working in village panchayats are paid monthly like government employees. The Chief Minister emphasized that the salaries must be disbursed through a green channel to avoid delays.
Currently, 92,351 employees are serving in village panchayats, requiring a monthly salary payment of Rs 116 crore. The CM asked the Panchayat Raj and Finance Departments to implement a clear system for timely payments.
On Thursday, the Chief Minister reviewed the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department at the Integrated Command Control Centre.
Former minister Jana Reddy, ministers Seethakka, Konda Surekha, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, government advisors K. Keshava Rao and Vem Narender Reddy, Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari and senior officials attended the meeting.
Revanth also ordered the speedy clearance of pending bills under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). He said that approximately 1.26 lakh employment works were completed after since April 2023, and all related bills must be cleared without delay.
The Chief Minister stressed the need to use Central funds for village development efficiently. He directed officials to ensure the timely allocation of these funds for panchayat projects.
Revanth urged officials to speed up the release of pending Central funds under MGNREGS and the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) before the end of the current financial year. Â
