Participate in sports, Roja exhorts students

Minister for Sports and Tourism R K Roja has said that participating in sports is as important as education. The Sports Minister, along with MP N Reddappa, inaugurated the Sports Meet 2022, ‘Kreeda Sambarlu’ on the degree college campus in Nagari on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, she exhorted the students to participate in sports. She said that students could get good jobs in sports quota if they excelled in sports. She cited that three players including archer Jyothi Sureka and Rajini had gotten Group 1 posts by winning national and international tournaments.

“The government is extending all needed help to the players in the state. With the encouragement being received from the government, the sportsmen should win tournaments and bring laurels to the state,” she said. Emphasizing the need for international training and infrastructure for the players, she promised to provide all needed facilities.

Taking a dig at the opposition TDP and JSP, she alleged that the opposition leaders were unable to digest the progress being achieved by the Jagan Mohan Reddy-headed government and making false allegations against the government.The TDP government had wasted Rs 100 crore by taking a large number of TDP activists to the Polavaram project who praised Chandrababu Naidu, she alleged. Chittoor JC Venkateswar and other officials were present.
