People’s cooperation key to make Guntur a clean city

Collector M Venugopal Reddy, MLC Appireddy and Mayor Manohar Naidu underlined the need for people’s cooperation to make Guntur a clean, green and healthy city.

A massive rally was organised here on Friday to create awareness with over 50,000 students and the Collector, the MLC, the mayor, and MLA Giridhar led the rally. The rally began at the Collectorate and ended at Naaz centre.

The students holding placards raised slogans creating awareness among people and asking for their cooperation to develop the city clean and green. Later the students formed a huge human chain.

Speaking on the occasion, Collector Venugopal Reddy said that people’s participation is imperative to keep Guntur at the top as a clean, healthy, and green city. He called upon people to come forward to make the city a beautiful, clean, and green city. He said the state government has taken up a programme to develop cities as clean and green.

The Collector said that three dust bins were provided to each household to dump the garbage. Garbage is collected from every household. The Collector appealed to the citizens not to dump garbage on the roads and put the garbage in dust bins and hand it over to the garbage collecting vehicles.

The MLA Mayor said that as part of making Guntur a clean and green city under Jagananna Swachh Sankalpam the municipal corporation is creating massive awareness among people to keep the city clean and green. He thanked the students of government and private educational institutions for participating in the awareness rally.

MLC Appireddy said that the responsibility of making the city clean and green lies on all citizens and urged all not to dump garbage on roads and keep clean their surrendering also. He also urged public representatives to take part in keeping the city clean and green.

“If we altogether strive hard, Guntur city will achieve a better rank in the Swachh Sarvekshan 2023,” he added. In-charge Commissioner Peddi Roja said that efforts were being made to achieve a good rank in the Swachh Sawekhan 2023.

She directed the secretariat sanitary staff to 100 percent of the college garbage 100 percent. MLC Appireddy administered a pledge to the students and people that they would strive to keep the city clean and green. Deputy mayor Vanama Bala Vajra Babu, Sheik Sajila, and deputy commissioners B Srinivasa Rao and T Venkata Krishnaiah were among those who took part in the programme.
