PHC doctors told to be punctual, accessible to people

District Additional Collector (local bodies) Deepak Tiwari on Wednesday made a surprise visit to the primary health centre (PHC) at Kautala and asked the medical officers to be punctual to their duties, remain accessible to patients and render medical treatment to the people.
He went through the official records, visited various wards, checked the stock of the drugs and inspected the premises of the hospital. He reiterated that the medical officers should be punctual to their duties and pay special attention to control the seasonal diseases during the current monsoon season.
They should also explain people the precautions to be taken to check the spread of the seasonal diseases, he said directing the DMHO to take disciplinary action if any medical officer  is not accessible to the people.
The District Medical and Health Officer told the Additional Collector that he would take special measures to provide medical and health services to the people of Kautala and Chintala Manepalli mandals.  He also said that he would take steps to ensure that the doctors and other hospital personnel are accessible to the people.
The Additional Collector asked the medical and health officials to ensure that normal deliveries are conducted by the PHC. He wanted the medical and health officials to submit him a list of medicines needed by the hospital so that he would ensure that the drugs are immediately supplied to the PHC.
Later, he visited the old PHC site in the mandal and directed the Mandal Parishad Development Officer to see to it that the PHC site is not encroached by vested interests.
