A delegation from the Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sanghala Samanvaya Samiti has requested MP Kesineni Sivanath alias Chinni to take steps to implement the Prof Swaminathan Committee recommendations for all agricultural products. The delegation also urged MP Chinni to take into consideration the production costs and add 50 per cent to fix the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
The delegation, led by Samiti convener and former minister Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao, met MP Nani at his office NTR Bhavan in Gurunanak Colony and submitted a representation in this regard on Thursday. They also explained the concerns of the farmers.
During the meeting, Vadde Sobhandreeswara Rao said that the Central government did not implement many assurances that were given at the time of farmers’ agitations against three Agricultural Acts. Similarly, the Kisan Morcha urged to suspend the move to install smart metres to agriculture pumps, he said. The Morcha also urged the Central government to waive off GST on fertilisers, pesticides, seeds, power supply, petrol products, tractors and spare parts. Also, while implementing the Land Acquisition Act-2013, the government should take into consideration land prices every year, he said.
Furthermore, they sought loan redemption for farmers and agriculture workers for once. They also demanded a memorial for the 736 farmers who sacrificed their lives during the agitation. In addition to these demands, they urged the withdrawal of all illegal cases against farmers. However, none of the demands has been resolved so far, he said.
MP Kesineni Chinni assured them that he will raise all these demands in Parliament. He will strive to solve all genuine demands, he said.
