Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to virtually inaugurate the permanent campus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Visakhapatnam on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. The event marks a milestone in the journey of IIM Visakhapatnam, solidifying its position as one of the nation’s premier management-education institutions.
The foundation stone for the permanent campus was laid by the former Union Minister for Human Resources Development, Smriti Zubin Irani, on January 17, 2015. The inauguration ceremony will witness the virtual presence of the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Dharmendra Pradhan, the Minister of Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, alongside dignitaries from various government ministries, departments, industries, educational institutions, and civil society organizations. Among the distinguished guests attending virtually will be the education minister Botsa Satyanarayana, MP, MVV Satyanarayana, MLA Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao, District Collector Dr A Mallikarjuna, and other eminent personalities.
IIM-Visakhapatnam’s permanent campus is situated on a green campus spanning 241.50 acres of land, adorned with approximately 8,500 trees, generously provided by the State Government of Andhra Pradesh at no cost. The campus boasts a built-up area of about 62,350 square meters, constructed at a cost of Rs 472.61 Cr. It is a digitally enabled state-of-the-art facility with a 5-star GRIHA rating, featuring a 1500 kW Solar Power bank connected to the grid, a 216 Kilo Liters per Day Water Treatment Plant, and a 150 KLD Sewage Treatment Plant.
Moreover, the campus hosts impressive sports infrastructure, including a FIFA-size football ground, a sprawling-green cricket field, indoor and outdoor games facilities, a gym, yoga, and meditation centers, making it a hub for holistic development of mind and body. The inauguration of IIM Visakhapatnam’s permanent campus heralds a new era of excellence in management education, poised to nurture future leaders and contribute significantly to India’s intellectual and professional landscape.
