Police crack burglary, recover Rs 19L

The police cracked a major burglary case by arresting the accused and recovering Rs 19 lakh cash within 48 hours.

SP Harif Afeez told the media here on Monday that on December 17, at around 2:15 am, accused Gonela Shankar Rao committed burglary in SKT Export Mirchi Godown here by diverting the attention of dogs by throwing pieces of chicken. Later the accused attacked the watchman and decamped with about Rs 20 lakh cash.

On the complaint of the godown manager, the police registered a case and began an investigation. Shankar worked as labourer in the godown and committed the heist with the help of his accomplice Nageswara Rao, who is at large, the SP said.
