Political parties targeting iftars for poll campaigning mohammed baleegh

With the Lok Sabha polls to be held in May, political parties in Telangana are making efforts to initiate their election campaigns through Iftar parties in the month of Ramzan.
The Congress government organised a State Iftar on March 15, the annual event was expedited since this is an election year.
The Congress attributed its successful campaign during the Assembly elections last year to the Muslim population. Congress leader and advisor to Telangana government on SC, ST and Minority affairs Shabbir Ali on March 26 attended an Iftar party at a mosque.
The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leaders every year organise ‘iftar’ programmes during Ramzan in all its constituencies and elsewhere as well. In this year’s Ramzan, it is likely that Iftar get-togethers at residential colonies will be organised on a grand scale by local leaders and corporators.
The Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT), which gave a close fight to the AIMIM in the Yakutpura constituency during the Assembly elections last year, has been organising iftar get-together at various levels. The party will organise a “Youmul Quran” programme at the Mecca Masjid on March 29. MBT President Majeed Ullah Khan will address the public.
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao on Wednesday attended an Iftar party at the Gunbazar area in Rasoolpura. Following the Iftar, he interacted with the residents in order to understand their issues. In a statement, the BRS party announced that it would conduct iftar partys during the reminder of Ramzan.
