Reacting to the perplexity on the issue of statement by Chief Warden in a circular, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu stated that the Chief Warden had made a false statement that there was a shortage of electricity and drinking water in Osmania University on Monday.
He said that he had ordered an inquiry after some people had given notices about shortage of electricity and drinking water in Osmania University and those that had gone viral on the social media. The officials who investigated the issue immediately made it clear in the preliminary report that there was no interruption in power supply.
The chief warden had made an announcement that Osmania University hostels and messes would be closed from May 1 to May 31 due to shortage of drinking water and electricity. The officials said in their report that it was clear from the meter readings that electricity was continuously supplied to the entire university through two separate 11kv feeders from the 33/11 KV sub-station in the Osmania University campus. A show cause notice has been issued by the university registrar to the chief warden for making a false statement without verifying facts.
The Deputy CM made it clear that the students studying in the university will not face any difficulties. The authorities have been ordered to restore the electricity and drinking water facilities immediately. The students of the university do not need to worry at all. They can stay in the university and study freely. There is no need for students to evacuate. The Congress government will always support the students and the unemployed, he added.
However, BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao gave a counter attack to the Deputy CM, by stating in the Twitter that Telangana CM and Deputy CM were misleading the people on power, irrigation and drinking water supply position in the State for the past four months. Notice of Osmania University chief warden confirms that all their claims were a farce. The truth is that there is power, drinking water and irrigation water crisis in Telangana, he added.
