‘Prabhas and I will surely do a film together’

Macho Star Gopichand, who is waiting for that one hit to bounce back hard, is gearing up for the release of his most ambitious films. Bhimaa, as he is returning as a cop in this film after a good 14 years. Directed by A. Harsha, the movie, a commercial cop drama, has two heroines, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Malvika Sharma, who play female leads. This March 8 release film has a strong script with elements of comedy, action, drama, romance, and more.
And it was Gopichand who initiated a cop drama for his next with director Harsha. The actor confessed to us that during lockdown, Harsha had approached the Loukyam star with a different story, but he asked the director to come back with a cop drama. It was within 8 months that Bhimaa got finalised.
“I liked the characterisation. Although I played a cop in my previous films, this film has a semi-fantasy element that is new that the audience will also surely like,” said the Macho man, adding that Bhimaa is a commercially packed film with elements of romance, emotions, and love.
Gopichand is sure of the film’s success because of the confidence he has in the connectivity factor in the film, despite it being an out-and-out commercial film.
Moreover, the actor rests his full confidence in the well-experienced director. The trailer itself proves the director’s vision for his character in the movie and the story. The Golimaar actor expressed, “Since the director is experienced, he visualised the story well. It was the director who chose the title of the film. Bhimaa is very strong. After watching the trailer, many asked us why the director chose a bull for me to ride and not a horse. It is because he wanted to match it and resonate with the character’s strength.”
Gopichand is known for doing both comedy and action films, but if we look at the actor’s career graph, the majority of his hits were comedy films. We asked him if there’s an element of comedy in this action film, and he responded, “The audience expects action and comedy from me. So I try to mix them both. Even in this movie, I tried to add comedy to my character. Sometimes the story is good, but the execution is bad, and vice versa. We always make films, wanting them to become hits, but it’s all in the audiences’ hands to make it or break it.”
Lastly, on a lighter note, the press was curious to know whether the actor would do a film with his Tollywood all-time bestie Prabhas, and his immediate answer was yes! Without even giving a second’s break, he confessed, “We want to do a film together for a long time, but it is not being materialised, but we will surely do a film together.”
