Prabhu Deva, an actor and choreographer, has officially joined the cast of Kathanar – The Wild Sorcerer, the much anticipated Malayalam film, according to the directors. An image from the internet showed the actor being greeted on the movie set with warmth by director Rojin Thomas, actor Jayasurya, and producer Gokulam Gopalan.
The Malayalam cinema industry is already buzzing about Kathanar – The Wild Sorcerer thanks to its impressive plot and star-studded cast. With Gokulam Gopalan producing the movie under the brand of Sree Gokulam Movies, South Indian actresses Anushka Shetty and Devika Sanjay are scheduled to play the key roles.
In an interview, director Rojin Thomas underlined his confidence in producing a ground-breaking 3D fantasy movie, which is a unique accomplishment in Malayalam cinema. “With Kathanar, we want to use local talent’s skills and state-of-the-art filmmaking technologies to showcase Malayalam cinema to the world,” Rojin said.
Rojin and screenwriter P Ramanand have been working on the concept of Kathanar for more than six years, even after a protracted pre-production period that lasted almost two years. The project, which was originally slated to start production even before Rojin’s feature debut Home, has expanded into a possible franchise, with the first two installments presently being made concurrently. Rojin also hinted at the prospect of more chapters in the future.
Fans of Prabhu Deva’s memorable performance as Vavvali in the historical drama Urumi, co starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Genelia D’Souza, are bringing back fond memories of the actor’s return to Malayalam film.
