After a long gap of about three months due to the implementation of the Election Code of Conduct, only a few people attended the Prajavani programme which resumed on Friday. The Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Praja Bhavan looked deserted in the early hours. Slowly, a few people started arriving from villages in and around Hyderabad to express their grievances.
According to sources from Prajavani, a total of 373 applications were registered for various departments. Over 120 applications related to revenue issues, 43 to the education department, 43 to the municipal department, 29 to the home department, 18 to the civil supplies department and 120 to other departments.
Upon asking, farmer Mekala Balaram, who came all the way from Nalgonda to the Praja Bhavan, said that revenue officials and some compromised politicians created a land issue by changing the name on the land in 2007, causing a huge loss to him and his family. He said this situation prevented him from sending his children to good schools because he had to deal with courts and police stations.
Balaram mentioned that he requested the government to address his grievance, explaining his significant losses and that his son, Mekala Sabhapathi, needed to study at IIT.
However, the authorities said the rules wouldn’t allow a seat at IIT but offered a place in Gurukula.
Balaram expressed his frustration, stating that due to the land issue, his house leaks during the rainy season and they don’t have enough money to feed their children. He cried that he couldn’t even afford coaching for IIT.
He also stressed that they have suffered greatly due to government officials who talked about rules without providing opportunities for those who have suffered losses because of the government.
Balaram cried that justice should be done for his children, urging the government to recognise people with such problems and ensure that children study and let them be useful to the society.
Vice Chairman for Telangana State Planning Board (TSPB), Dr Chinna Reddy, visited Praja Bhavan and participated in the Prajavani programme. Special Publicity Officer and Director of Municipal Department D Divya, along with other officials, received applications from people and enquired about their problems.
Prajavani resumes at Praja Bhavan with few visitors
