Former Minister and Balkonda MLA Vemula Prashant Reddy on Tuesday charged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy with taking the farmers for a ride. The Chief Minister has been giving assurances to the farmers for political gains in Lok Sabha elections.
The Congress had a history of ordering police firing on farmers and foisting cases on them when they demanded that their dues be cleared.  Speaking at a meeting, he said it was the KCR regime that came to the rescue of the farmers. It was the KCR that cleared Rs 11 crore dues to the farmers for the procurement of red sorghum and the BRS government withdrew the cases foisted on the farmers.
Refuting the allegations levelled by Revanth Reddy at the Mondays’ public meeting in Nizamabad, Prashanth Reddy accused the Chief Minister of trying to dupe the farmers again. The Congress which was at the helms of the affairs for nearly 50 years did not sanction the turmeric board for Nizamabad, he pointed out. The Chief Minister has been making empty promises to the farmers to reap electoral dividends.
The BJP, which was in power for the last 10 years, had earlier rejected the proposal for turmeric board.  He appealed to the voters to bury Congress and BJP which have been spreading lies, and support KCR, who is pro-farmer.
