Prioritise nine-hour quality power for farmers: Naidu

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has instructed the Energy Department to ensure farmers receive nine hours of quality electricity during the daytime. Emphasising the importance of improving feeder capacity and establishing special feeders, he urged officials to enhance power generation and supply while reducing costs.
During a review meeting at the Secretariat on Friday, the CM stressed the importance of prioritising solar power generation in Andhra Pradesh. He called for comprehensive plans to set up solar units and meet the state’s electricity requirements efficiently.
Naidu highlighted the need to maximise the benefits of Central government subsidies in power generation. He discussed with officials the current status of electricity generation and supply, the costs associated with producing a unit of electricity, and the expenses incurred when purchasing power from other grids to address shortages. The review also covered various power generation projects, including thermal, hydroelectric, solar, and wind, as well as upcoming power projects.
The CM also directed officials to devise plans for a battery energy storage system.
Special Chief Secretary of the State Energy Department, K Vijayanand, provided an overview of the state’s power generation status through a presentation.
The meeting was attended by State Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar, Secretary to CM AV Rajamouli, AP Genco MD Chakradhar Babu, AP Transco MD Kirthi, Additional Secretary Finance J Nivas, KPMG representative Srinivas, and other officials
