Priority is being given for fishermen’s welfare: Minister

Minister for Transport P Viswaroop has said that the government is giving priority for the welfare of fishermen and implementing various schemes especially for them.
A programme was organized at Padavala village in Tallarevu mandal to mark the World Fisheries Day on Tuesday. MLA Ponnada Venkata Satish presided over the programme and MP Vanga Geeta attended as chief guest. Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy conveyed greetings virtually to the fishermen from his camp office on the occasion.
The Chief Minister also credited Rs 161.86 crore to the 23,458 fishermen families who lost their livelihood in Konaseema and Kakinada districts due to the ONGC pipeline works.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Viswaroop said that the YSRCP led government has implemented every assurance given to the people. He appealed to the people to observe the difference between the YSRCP led government and the TDP led government.
He highlighted that the Chief Minister sent Mopidevi Venkataramana who belongs to the fishermen community to Rajya Sabha and Ponnada Satish Kumar was inducted into the TTD board.
MP Mopidevi Venkataramana said that Andhra Pradesh state had received as the best fisheries state at the national level as result of programmes implemented by the government. The state government is constructing fishing harbours and jetties along the coastline for the benefit of fishermen.
MP Vanga Geeta said that the government is providing quality education and health to the poor. MLAs Kondeti Chittabaiah and Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar Reddy and MLC P Ravindr Babu also spoke.
MLC Karri Padmasri, Joint Collector S N Ajay, fisheries JD Lal Mohammad and Kakinada RDO Kishore were among those who attended.
