Chaos prevailed on Formula E racing track during the test run on Friday. A large volume of traffic entered the race tracks all of a sudden at the NTR Marg disrupting preparations for the big race that is less than 24 hours away. Formula-E race organizers and race teams panicked following the incident. The police revealed that the mishap occurred due to the neglect of internal security hired by the race organizers.
P. Murali Krishna, ACP, Traffic Police Central Zone said, “The formula E organizers hired their own security. Traffic police is responsible only to manage traffic outside the track and ensure thorough directions. Someone in the internal security opened the track by mistake and a bunch of vehicles swiftly entered the track. The traffic police are not responsible. However, we will ensure that this will not repeat tomorrow and tighten the security.”
All traffic around NTR Marg, Secretariat, Prasad’s Imax, NTR Gardens and Lumbini Park have been diverted in view of the Indian debut of Formula E Race in Hyderabad.
Extensive arrangements have been made to ensure that everything proceeds smoothly. However, reportedly, the internal security team’s neglect in imposing restrictions had led to a group of vehicles entering the race tracks out of nowhere.
Organizers plan to strengthen security and ensure that the incident doesn’t repeat during the final race on February 11.
