Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has said that the Congress government, in keeping with the spirit of its six guarantees, would launch in Telangana the scheme providing gas cylinder at
Rs.500 very soon, inviting AICC leader Priyanka Gandhi for the purpose. The state government would also provide free power up to 200 units very soon.
The Chief Minister was addressing women representing self-help groups (SHGs) at Indravelli on Friday.
The Chief Minister remarked that the aim of the Congress government was to empower women to live with self respect as had been the case under ‘Indiramma rajyam’.
The government would take a call on engaging SHGs for stitching uniforms of school students and inmates of hostels, he added.
While distributing cheques worth Rs 60 crore providing bank linkage to SHGs, the Chief Minister said that the Congress government would always stand by women and cited as an example the scheme providing free bus travel for women across the state. Mentioning that some people were trying to scuttle the free bus travel scheme, he asked women to “teach them a lesson if they come to the villages”.
