Probe land grabbing, getting of files

Must read

CPI leaders have met Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and requested him to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the land scams that took place during the previous YSRCP government’s rule in the State. It was brought to the CM’s attention that thousands of acres have been encroached upon in Kadapa district alone. They also requested to investigate the gutting of files in the Madanapally Sub Collector’s office.
CPI national secretary Narayana, State secretary Ramakrishna, leaders Muppalla Nageswara Rao, Akkineni Vanaja, Jalli Wilson, JVSN Murthy and Obulesu gave a representation regarding various issues to CM Chandrababu Naidu at the Velagapudi secretariat on Monday.
During the interaction with the CM, the CPI leaders briefed that thousands of acres have been occupied in Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Prakasam districts in the name of the three capitals. They alleged that the previous rulers had confiscated the lands by threatening the poor, common and middle class people and demanded justice for those who have lost their lands. They also said strict action should be taken against those involved in the land scams.
They appealed to the Chief Minister to drop the cases filed against the CPI leaders and leaders of affiliated unions by the previous government, for various protests regarding the construction of Amaravati, Polavaram Project, burden of electricity charges on common people, RTC charges, implementation of bifurcation promises, and the privatisation of Vizag Steel Plant.
They further urged the CM to complete the Polavaram Project as soon as possible and solve the problems of the displaced. It is regrettable that the previous government upheld the decision to limit project construction to a height of 45.72 meters. The Vizag Steel Plant, which was formed as a result of many sacrifices, should not be privatised, they said.
