On Saturday, a review meeting was held under the leadership of District Collector Kranti Vallaraju at the mini conference hall of the Sangareddy Collectorate to discuss the establishment of procurement centres for Vanakalam (Kharif) 2024-25 season.
Health Minister Damoadar Raj Narasimha, who was present at the meeting, directed the officials, to ensure that procurement centres are opened.
During the meeting, the Minister emphasised the Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s directives to ensure that every grain produced by farmers is purchased without fail. He instructed the authorities to set up separate procurement centres for fine paddy and ordinary paddy. The government has set the prices for this season at Rs 2,320 per quintal for super fine variety and Rs 2,300 for common variety. Additionally, a bonus of Rs 500 for fine paddy has been announced. He stated that the number of procurement centers in the district should be increased and all necessary arrangements made to avoid inconveniences for farmers.
He directed officials to ensure that tarpaulins are available at the procurement centers and to take precautions to prevent paddy from getting wet due to untimely rains. He also suggested that gunny bags and transport vehicles be made available on time. Raj Narsimh emphasised that officials must take full responsibility for the purchased paddy until it reaches the mills. He recommended setting up surveillance at the procurement centers and establishing check posts to prevent the transportation of fine variety paddy from other states.
District Collector Kranti Vallaraju instructed the officials to take appropriate measures to ensure that payments for the purchased paddy are credited to farmers’ bank accounts within 48 hours. He suggested that the Revenue, Civil Supplies, Agriculture, Police, Cooperation, IKP, and Transport Departments should work in coordination for the procurement of paddy in the district.
He urged immediate resolution of any issues that arise at the procurement centers.
The meeting was attended by Additional Revenue Collector Madhuri, Trinagar Collector Manoj, PD DRDA Jyoti, District Agricultural Officer Shivaprasad, DM Civil Supplies Kondal Rao, and officials from relevant departments, among others.
