Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president Daggubati Purandeswari laid the foundation stone for the construction of a water treatment plant at Karamchedu village on Monday.
She participated in the foundation stone laying programme along with her husband, former minister Dr. Daggubati Venkateswara Rao. The water treatment plant will be established for Rs 90 lakh by the ONGC under the CSR programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Purandeswari said the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihar Vajpayee was being celebrated across the country. She unfurled the BJP flag at the village and paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihar Vajpayee on the occasion of his birth anniversary.
Purandeswari said that the Central government has taken up various development works at Karamchedu village at a cost of Rs 23 crore during the last 9 years. She underlined the need to issue ‘Ayushman’ health cards to all eligible.  She also called upon the BJP activists to ensure that the ‘Viswakarma Yojana’ scheme benefits reach every eligible beneficiary.
She asked the BJP cadres to reach out to people and sensitize them to the welfare schemes being implemented by the Narendra Modi-led Central government.  “If the Central government does not extend funds to the AP, there will be no development in the states,” Purandeswari opined.
Speaking on the occasion, former minister, Daggubati Venkateswara Rao made some interesting comments stating that he felt happy to be defeated in the 2019 elections in Purchur, stating that if he had been elected to the Assembly, he would have faced difficulty with bad conditions of roads and lack of development.
“By God’s grace, it was good that I lost the election in 2019 in Parchur Constituency. If I had won the election, I could not have moved freely on the roads and I could have not answered to the people on the bad roads,” he said.
Venkateswara Rao also disclosed that the YSRCP leadership, two months after the election, had offered a minister post to his son after sending him to the Legislative Council. “However we rejected the offer unable to agree to the conditions set by Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy,” he revealed. Today’s politics is limited to abusing each other but the people are not getting any benefit, he opined.
Venkateswara Rao said that no road was repaired at Karamchedu village and recalled his memories working with the then Chief Minister and his father-in-law N T Rama Rao.
