The Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Festival returns this year with iconic venues, celebrated performers and path-breaking themes. The festival is scheduled to be held from November 16 to 20 at various venues including Moazzam Jahi Market and Taramati Baradari. Curated by theatre revivalist and screen actor Mohammad Ali Baig, this flagship theatre festival of Telangana features the who’s who of International theatre and cinema every year.

The inaugural of the showcase event of Hyderabad is at the Taramati Baradari with Sarod legend Ustad Amjad Ali Khan live in concert. While speaking about the festival, he said, “It is a great honour and pleasure for me to perform in memory of the legendary Qadir Ali Baig who left behind such a rich legacy.”

The concert is followed by screening of MS Sathyu’s classic film on India’s partition ‘Garam Hava’ at the restored Prince Moazzam Jahi Market Courtyard on Day 2.

Apart from the concert, film screenings and plays, the festival, like every year, has a series of workshops and panel discussions. Marathi Stalwart Satish Alekar, whose workshop is scheduled at the festival, said, “Over the years, Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Festival has carved a new tradition in the field of contemporary theatre in India.

This is one of the few theatre festivals where young practitioners across India eagerly await to present their new work.”
