Raghunandan urges people to hoist national flag on every house

Must read

Lok Sabha member from Medak Raghunandan Rao has appealed to the people of the constituency to hoist the national flag on every house on August 15 in connection with the Independence Day celebrations to invoke the feeling that the  country belongs to them.
Earlier, he led a Har Ghar Tiranga procession from JN Road to Ramdas X Roads in the town on Tuesday with the participation of several college students waving the national tricolour.  The rally culminated in a public meeting at Ramdas X Roads.
Addressing the gathering, he appealed to the people to recall the sacrifices made by eminent freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Chandrasekhar Azad, Subhash  Chandra Bose for the sake of the country. Modi launched the Har Ghar Tiranga  programme to highlight the sacrifices made by them to the nation.
Earlier, elocution contests were used to be organised on patriotism. But, nowadays people compete in such events just for the sake of ranks, but none is bothered to groom people as patriotic individuals who would be able to safeguard the nation. Everyone should feel that he or she would be better off only when the country is safe.
Those who do not honour the national flag need not live in this country, he said.
The history of Babar, Akbar, Birbal, Ghazni are being taught in schools. But, there were no lessons on people like Subhash  Chandra Bose and Sivaji Maharaj, he compared.
When there were no schools, colleges and universities in the nation, Nalanda University had provided education to students from all over world. Modi helped set up a new university close to the site of the Old Nalanda University.
District BJP president Gaddam Srinivas, Medak town BJP president Nayini Prasad, YuvaMorcha district president Satish and others were present.
