Congress party senior leader and former APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy thanked Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for his assurance to resolve pending issues of the district.
Talking to the media here on Friday, he said that Chandrababu Naidu addressed a meeting at Madakasira and assured of resolving the issues which had been pending for the last 10 years. “I thank Naidu for his clear assurance to resolve the problems which remained unresolved for the last 10 years.
Raghuveera Reddy, who was also a former minister, welcomed the attempt of the government to organize a meeting without bringing people forcibly. A public meeting was organized at Madakasira for which people were not brought forcibly like the previous regime, he highlighted and hailed the attempt. Nowadays there is no need to forcibly bring people to the meetings as they would watch the programmes on TV and social media, he opined.
Raghuveera Reddy also hailed the Apex Court’s verdict on the sub-classification of Scheduled Castes. “Some organizations have struggled for decades to achieve classification of Scheduled Castes. Ultimately, the Supreme Court resolved the issues. I welcome the Supreme Court judgment. I also congratulate the leaders, including Manda Krishna Madig, who led a movement demanding classification of Scheduled Castes,” Raghuveera Reddy observed.
The former minister demanded that the NDA-led Centre immediately take up a ‘caste census’ to do justice to all sections of people. The caste census is imperative to provide justice as per the population ratio to the people of various sections. It is the right time to initiate steps to hold caste census, he opined, adding that there are 59 sub-castes in the SC. “Except the BJP, all political parties, including some allies of BJP, are in favour of Caste Census,” Raghuveera Reddy claimed.
