Must read

The ongoing rains have caused water to seep into the first floor of Nimra College at Jupudi in Ibrahimpatnam mandal of NTR district, affecting a wall of the strongroom where Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) are stored.
Upon discovering the issue, security and revenue authorities promptly informed District Collector and Election Officer (DEO) Dr S Dilli Rao. The strongroom houses EVMs from the Mylavaram Assembly constituency under the Vijayawada Parliamentary segment.
NTR District Joint Collector Dr P Sampath Kumar and Police Commissioner PHD Ramakrishna immediately inspected the site. Officials assessed that the EVMs were not yet damaged but too preventive measures to safeguard them against further rain.
Dilli Rao instructed officials to take necessary actions to prevent damage to the EVMs. Following his directives, revenue and other officials have worked to ensure rainwater does not penetrate the building’s first floor and to protect the strong room. Speaking to ‘The Pioneer’, Joint Collector Dr Sampath Kumar confirmed that no rainwater had entered the strongroom. However, he cautioned that heavy rains could pose a future risk, and thus, preventive measures are being taken.
Later, Police Commissioner Ramakrishna and Joint Collector Sampath Kumar reviewed the security arrangements at the strong rooms, instructing security personnel to remain vigilant until the vote count concludes.
DCP S. Harikrishna and other officials accompanied the inspection team, ensuring comprehensive measures were in place to protect the EVMs.
