A special programme was organised at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday to celebrate the World Red Cross Day. Telangana Governor CP Radhakrishnan, who is also serving as the Governor of Jharkhand and Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, wished Red Cross representatives and volunteers on World Red Cross Day and appreciated their invaluable service during times of crisis.
The Governor said that this year’s Red Cross Day theme is ‘Keeping Humanity Alive’. This theme promotes the concept of reflecting the true humanity of society by serving communities and nations. He opined that one can face the crisis effectively only when everyone undertakes sensitisation programmes with great determination, collective action and coordination. “Everyone is requested to join the Indian Red Cross Society and contribute their services to the society,” he added.
Governor’s Principal Secretary Burra Venkatesham coordinated the programme.
Burra Venkatesham and Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) State Branch Chairperson Ajay Mishra, congratulated the Red Cross representatives and volunteers on World Red Cross Day. “Over 5 lakh members of Junior Red Cross and Youth Red Cross should be registered by May 5, 2025 and called upon the Red Cross mechanism to work in that direction,” they added.
