Raj-Shilpa’s legal team releases statement on property attachment by ED

Raj Kundra, is facing legal issues once more. The businessman, who was previously detained in connection with a pornographic case, is currently under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate for allegedly defrauding investors of their money by using bitcoins. Following the federal agency’s announcement, according to reports, the Enforcement Department (ED) has attached Shilpa and Raj’s assets valued at Rs 97.79 crore following the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
According to the agency’s statement, Amit Bhardwaj, the creator and marketer of the Gain Bitcoin Ponzi scheme, gave Kundra 285 bitcoins in exchange for her putting up a bitcoin mining farm in Ukraine. The bitcoins that he still possesses are currently worth over Rs 150 crore.
In addition to their Mumbai home, their quiet shares and Pune mansion have been linked to a money laundering probe.
Now the couple’s legal team has issued a statement. Their lawyer, Prashant Patil, shared in the statement, “We shall follow the due process of law and take necessary steps as prescribed under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act to protect the liberty and property of my clients. On the face of it, there is no prima facie case made against my clients, Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty Kundra. We have complete faith in the Honourable Judiciary. I believe that when we make our fair representation before the Honourable Enforcement Directorate, even the investigation agencies may grant us justice. We have faith in a fair investigation. We stand committed to cooperating with the authorities as and when required.”
