Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu has appealed to the Indian government for urgent action to bring back 22 migrant workers from Srikakulam district, who are currently stranded in Saudi Arabia due to dishonest employers. In a meeting held in Delhi on Tuesday with Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Rammohan Naidu highlighted the difficult situation the workers are facing.
“These workers, who moved to Saudi Arabia in search of better job opportunities, have not been paid for the last two months. They are living in severe conditions, without enough food or basic necessities,” said Rammohan Naidu. “Their families in Srikakulam are extremely worried about their safety.”
Rammohan Naidu emphasised the urgent need for the government to intervene and help the workers return home. “We cannot allow our people to suffer like this. I urge the government to take quick action to bring them back and provide them with the support they need,” he added.
The Union Minister also called for the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia to offer immediate assistance. “The Embassy must act quickly to ensure their safety, provide shelter, and help with their return,” he said. In response, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar assured Rammohan Naidu that the government would take swift steps to resolve the issue. “We understand the seriousness of the situation, and we will make sure the necessary actions are taken immediately,” Jaishankar said.
The situation has sparked deep concern in Srikakulam, with many residents anxiously awaiting news about their loved ones. The government’s quick intervention is expected to bring relief to both the workers and their families.
