Uniform Civil Code not the policy of BJP

Former MP Undavalli Arun Kumar has said that what Ramoji Rao has done is wrong and he has to accept it. Addressing media persons here on Wednesday, Arun Kumar said that the court would certainly give its verdict against Margadarshi and it would be better if Ramoji Rao accepted his fault before it was too late.
Speaking about the Central government, Undavalli said that Uniform Civil Code (UCC) was not the policy of the Bharatiya Janata Party. “The proposal is in the basic structure of the Constitution. At that time, the proposal was to eliminate economic inequalities. Where poverty is high, the population will be high. The 21st Law Commission has advised the Modi government that there is no need for UCC. The 22nd Law Commission also advised the Central government on June 24 not to rush ahead,” he said.
He said that action should be taken with the aim of eliminating economic inequalities. The stance of YSRCP and TDP on UCC should be revealed. Both the parties and the Jana Sena should issue a White Paper on UCC. He said that if the Bill was tabled in the Parliament, the two major parties in the State would vote in its favour. For self-interest, UCC should not be forcefully introduced. There should be an elaborate discussion on UCC, he said and added that there was no need for anything like UCC unless it needed to be regulated through legislative amendments. Undavalli said that by imposing Article 370, nothing much had happened to Jammu and Kashmir. BJP is proposing UCC Bill only for number games.
Speaking on the Polavaram project, Undavalli said those responsible for the erosion of the diaphragm wall should be identified. A White Paper should be released on the implementation of the package announced for the displaced and the construction of the project.
He said that no one was questioning how much debt the Central government had incurred. “Why are the political parties not daring to speak about the Centre? The division of the State was done unethically. AP’s revenue deficit compensation was promised at the time of bifurcation, but not fulfilled. The cause of all the problems is the Central government. If the share of the States is properly given to them, there will be no problems, said Undavalli Arun Kumar.
