RBKs are not useful to farmers: Manohar alleges

Must read

Jana Sena party Political Affairs Committee chairman Nadendla Manohar alleged that the Rythu Bharosa Kendras were no way useful to the farmers and some of the RBKs were closed as building rents had not been paid.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Manohar said that the state government in the name of constructing 10,408 RBKs, had got Rs 2,300 crore MGNREGA funds from the Centre. In fact, the government had constructed only 3,200 RBKs so far, he claimed.
“The government has allocated a meager Rs 158 crore for the RBKs during the last four years. Some of the RBKs have been closed since the rents for the buildings have not been paid. The RBKs are being run under the directions of YSRCP leaders. I do not understand how the NITI Ayog issues certificates,” Manohar stated.
The Jagan Mohan Reddy headed government had wasted thousands of crores of rupees in the name of RBKs, he lashed out. The state government used the funds which the Central government extended under the NREGA for the construction of RBKs. As many as 3200 RBKs were constructed with the NREGA funds. The construction of another 3000 RBKs was left in the middle. The RBKs were struck in the hands of YSRCP leaders, he flayed.
“The government is insisting the farmers get their crops E-KYC registered but the services were not made available in the RBK. The tenant farmers are not getting any kind of benefit from the RBK,” Nadendla Manohar slammed.
There are over 30 lakh tenant farmers in the state but the state government is telling that there are only 17 lakh tenant farmers.
“If the government had spent  Rs 2,300 crore, which it had spent for the construction of RBKs with the NREGA funds, for the modernization and desilting of irrigation canals, the impact of the cyclone would be been reduced and the farmers would have not lost their crop,” Manohar opined.
