Chief Minister Revanth Reddy marked the first anniversary of his government by addressing a gathering organized by the Transport Department to celebrate its achievements.
Highlighting job creation, the Chief Minister pointed to the recruitment of 55,143 individuals in the first year alone, claiming it was a feat unparalleled in the country. He stressed the state government’s dedication to fulfilling the aspirations of martyrs of Telangana movement and acknowledged the need for accountability. “Ponnam Prabhakar said that you issued notifications, but we gave appointments. What stopped you from doing it in past 10 years? All departments were with you. You don’t have intent and goal. You just gave notification and then got litigations in court. We removed all the obstacles and cleared court cases. We gave 55,143 government jobs in one year, including those in RTC. Is there any state which gave so many jobs?
I am challenging all CMs, Prime Minister and ex-CM, has any govt filled 55,143 jobs in one year, except the Congress government in Telangana”… We will do a headcount and will bring all the 55143 people here in NTR marg. Modi and KCR come stand here and count. Even if one person is missed, I am ready to apologize as CM. This is our will” he declared.
In his speech, the Chief Minister highlighted key initiatives that reflect the state government’s commitment to welfare and development, emphasizing the transformative impact of these policies on the people of Telangana.
Revanth Reddy pointed to the implementation of the scheme providing free bus travel for women under the Congress party’s framework of six guarantees on December 9, calling it the lifeline for the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) and its employees. “This scheme has not only revitalized TSRTC but has also brought light into the lives of countless workers,” he remarked, recalling the vital role played by transport workers in the state’s formation.
Elaborating on the programme’s success, the Chief Minister mentioned that over 115 crore women had availed of the free bus travel facility in just 11 months and 20 days, thus helping each woman save Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000 monthly. “We are committed to alleviating financial burdens for women,” he added.
The Chief Minister outlined other welfare measures, including free electricity up to 200 units for the poor and gas cylinders for Rs 500 for women. He highlighted the government’s achievement in waiving Rs 21,000 crore in farm loans benefiting 25.35 lakh farming families in the first year. Additionally, a bonus of Rs 500 per quintal was introduced for farmers growing fine rice varieties, encouraging a shift from coarse grains.
Revanth Reddy took pride in announcing Telangana’s record of producing 1.53 crore metric tons of rice, a national benchmark. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to improving the lives of farmers and ensuring that fine rice was provided in ration shops, hostels, and used for midday meals. “This state will serve rice grown in our soil to our children,” he said, vowing to dismantle the ‘rice recycling mafia’.
Revanth Reddy addressed environmental concerns, calling upon the Transport Department to play a vital role in containing pollution. He urged the department to scrap outdated vehicles and promote awareness about electric vehicle adoption. Promising the purchase of 3,000 electric buses over the next two years, the Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to making Hyderabad a pollution-free city. He announced plans to incentivize electric auto-rickshaws and outlined strategies for sustainable urban development.
On a larger scale, he affirmed his government’s determination to interlink the Musi River with the Godavari, pledging to transform Musi into a vibrant and clean waterway. “We are prepared to take tough decisions to eliminate pollution and establish Hyderabad as a global city,” he said.
Revanth Reddy concluded with a call to action, urging all stakeholders to work together to make Hyderabad a shining example of progress and sustainability. The event was attended by Ministers, officials, and leaders who reiterated their commitment to the government’s vision for Telangana.
