Record 105 cochlear implants done in 2 yrs

As many as 105th cochlear implant surgeries were performed successfully as on Saturday by Manipal Hospital Vijayawada. The hospital achieved this landmark in two years. Notably, more than 60 of these surgeries were performed under the Aarogyasri scheme, demonstrating the hospital’s commitment to making auditory healthcare accessible to all segments of society, irrespective of financial constraints. The 105 surgeries performed in the hospital were performed under the expertise of Dr VVK Sandeep, Consultant-ENT, Head and Neck Surgery, Manipal Hospital.
Dr Sandeep said, “The success of these surgeries is attributed to the collaborative efforts of a multidisciplinary team comprising proficient professionals in ENT, Paediatrics, and Audiology. We are proud that in two years we have been able to achieve a figure over 100, and provided seamless coordination and comprehensive care for our patients.”
