Red gram commanded the record price of Rs 11,246 a quintal in Suryapet agricultural market, which the officials claim as the highest price in the year.
The farmers fetched 50 quintals of high-quality red gram to the market on Tuesday. The farmers expressed happiness over the red gram fetching Rs 11,246 a quintal.
The farmers are jubilant over the commodity fetching the highest price. District marketing officer Nageswara Sarma has appealed to the farmers to bring quality produce to the market and get the MSP.
However, the red gram cultivated in Tanduru area fetched good price during March this year. The traders procured the quality red gram then at Rs 11,007 a quintal, while sub-standard quality red gram fetched Rs 8811 per quintal. The red gram of average quality commanded Rs 10,125 a quintal.
The Centre declared only Rs 7,000 per quintal as the MSP. However, the traders have paid Rs 1,811 to Rs 4007 per quintal over and above the MSP.
However, the traders broke the record on Tuesday in Agriculture market at Suryapet.
