Relief for Pinnelli as HC grants anticipatory bail in three cases

Must read

The Andhra Pradesh High Court has granted anticipatory bail to YSR Congress Party MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy from Macherla Assembly constituency in Palnadu district, in three additional cases filed against him. The court’s directive prohibits any police action against the MLA until the completion of vote counting in the Andhra Pradesh assembly elections, slated for June 5.
This decision comes on the heels of Pinnelli filing a fresh bail petition in the High Court after police lodged three separate cases against him.
These actions followed shortly after he was granted relief by the court in the EVM smashing case just four days earlier. Pinnelli, in his emergency petition, alleged a deliberate attempt by the police to implicate him in various cases, potentially leading to his incarceration during the crucial vote-counting period on June 4. The bail petition was scheduled to be heard later the same day.
Among the latest cases filed against the YSRCP MLA are charges related to an assault on Telugu Desam Party agent M. Seshagiri Rao and verbal abuse directed at a woman who protested his alleged involvement in EVM tampering at the Palwaigate polling booth on May 13.
In addition to these incidents, the Mangalagiri police acted on a zero FIR, following instructions from the Director General of Police, based on a complaint lodged by TDP activist Nomula Manikyala Rao. Rao, who hails from the same village as the MLA, Kandlakunta in Veldurthi mandal of Palnadu district, accused Pinnelli of orchestrating a murder plot against him. This accusation stemmed from Rao’s role as a polling agent in the village. Subsequently, the police registered a case against the MLA, which has been submitted to the court for further proceedings.
