Determined to address the challenges posed by the disorganised puja market, where customers often grapple with fragmented sources and time constraints, My Puja Mart emerged with a vision to streamline the entire process. By offering meticulously curated puja kits for various festivals, pujas, and rituals, complemented by top-notch services delivered by a team of vedic pundits and astrologers, the venture ensures a comprehensive and satisfying experience. My Puja Mart, was launched by Dr. Srilatha, an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, and Ravikumar, an alumnus of the Asian Institute of Management.
As per Dr. Srilatha, the co-founder, this “religious tech” start-up reshapes the landscape of religious rituals, making them accessible to all through a technologically enabled platform.
Sharing her journey with The Pioneer, Dr. Srilatha said, “I am always interested in religious activities. In regards to the market for puja materials, it is very nascent. Most of the players in the market are unorganised players or businessmen. People procure necessary materials after searching through many places, as not all materials are available at a single place. So, I wanted to set up something where all the services related to religion are available.” She desires to cater to all kinds of religious services for diverse communities and cultures by using technology immensely.
Just like many with no business background, she too had her own share of troubles in order to embark on this journey. The main challenges she faced were, “The religious markets have been unorganised, and people were used to these markets. To change this, there was a dire need to shift the mindsets of people. There are no standardised products for a particular puja. Many a time, customers need to overpay as per the whims and fancies of pandits suggesting them. To solve these issues, we offer customisation of products while adhering to the core values of authenticity.”
By offering meticulously curated puja kits for various festivals, pujas, and rituals, complemented by top-notch services delivered by a team of vedic pundits and astrologers, the start-up ensures a comprehensive and satisfying experience.
Having embarked on it’s journey with WE Hub’s pre-incubation program, Upsurge, they have thrived under the guidance provided during the subsequent incubation program. With mentorship, formalisation through company registration, exposure to funding opportunities through business pitching events, participation in MSME hackathons, assistance in the procurement of materials for the puja kit, support in business financial modelling, and media visibility, the entrepreneur says, has flourished under the incubation support.
Since its inception in May 2023, it has served over 250 customers in Hyderabad alone, with aspirations to broaden its customer base through multiple sales channels. The company has a mission to expand globally, targeting international markets by 2025.
“I want to expand my business in multiple cities before expanding it internationally. It brings me immense pleasure to provide her puja kits, especially to working women and senior citizens who have been appreciating my idea, making the procurement much easier and, at the same time, allowing them to celebrate religious fervour and devotion,” signs off Dr. Srilatha as she speaks of her future goals.
