REPORTERS’ DIARY : If you can’t beat them, join them

Must read

When it comes to netas’ relations with the media, it pays for the former to go by the dictum:“If you can’t beat them, join them”. This will give netas a modicum of control over the situation. At a recent press conference, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy profusely thanked media persons for their concern for the Congress government. The scribes present were taken aback at the CM’s solicitude. Replying to a question posed by one of the reporters, the Chief Minister went on to describe scribes as ‘well-wishers of the Congress government’. While exuding confidence that the Congress government would continue to rule the state for the next 10 years (meaning, with or without the support of the media), he warned the Opposition against plotting to topple the government. That said, he exhorted the media to take part in the development of the state by writing appropriate news about the Congress government’s activities.
