REPORTERS’ DIARY : Who or what is behind Media Academy chairman’s appointment?

Going by those who claim or are believed to have been instrumental in Srinivas Reddy’s appointment as Telangana Media Academy chairman amid the trend of Reddy’s getting coveted posts, it is not clear who or what influenced his appointment. While the Communist Party of India claims that he was given the post due to the good offices of the party, others say he got the post largely by virtue of being a Reddy. There is another section claiming that he got the post, courtesy TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu. For newbies, he was the founding chairman of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh’s Press Academy set up by Chandrababu Naidu. In a way, he has got back the post after Revanth Reddy became the Chief Minister in Telangana. Srinivas Reddy served as the general secretary of the AP Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) in undivided AP. APUWJ is in celebratory mode and is planning to felicitate him soon. Media Academy is an institution which came into being to inter alia impart training to working journalists.
