In a strong criticism of the Congress leadership, MLA Kaushik Reddy accused the CM of deliberately stalling Hyderabad’s development to help Amaravati.
Addressing a press conference at MLC Sambhipur Raju’s residence, Kaiushik said that Revanth was acting as per the directions of Chandrababu Naidu, undermining the growth of Telangana’s capital city to serve the interests of Andhra Pradesh.
“The actions of Revanth are not in the interests of Hyderabad or Telangana. He is functioning as per Chandrababu Naidu’s directions to shift development to Amaravati, which clearly shows his intent to hinder the growth of TG,” said Kaushik Reddy.
He accused Revanth of spreading fear among people under the guise of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Management Authority (HYDRAA), alleging that this was part of a broader conspiracy to ‘destabilise’ the city.
Kaushik remarks were made in the context of a larger political development, where several BRS leaders, including MLAs, MLCs, and former ministers were put under house arrest.
Kaushik and MLC Sambhipur Raju had planned to visit MLA Arikepudi Gandhi’s residence when they were detained by the police.
“Today, across the state, our leaders have been unjustly put under house arrest. When we tried to leave for Gandhi’s residence, we were stopped and arrested,” he added.
In a scathing attack on Revanth Reddy, Kaushik said that the Congress leader had personally directed an attack on his residence. “Revanth himself ordered the attack on my house. How can the police allow that? This is an attempt on my life, a direct threat to an MLA,” Kaushik said, demanding an explanation from the authorities. He questioned the law and order situation in Telangana, stating that such incidents “would not have occurred” under KCR’s leadership.
He also targeted Arikepudi Gandhi’s behaviour by criticising his language and actions. “The people of Serilingampally should take note of Arikepudi Gandhi’s language. He admits that I am a BRS MLA, but there are Congress banners all around his house. Does society accept this kind of conduct?” he asked.
Expressing frustration, Kaushik recounted the attack on his villa, which he said housed 69 families including prominent individuals like AP Minister Narayana.
“They broke the security gates of my villa, where several families live, including AP ministers and MLAs. Did people vote for Gandhi to see this rowdyism?” he asked and urged the public to reflect on the behaviour of Congress leaders.
Kaushik reiterated his commitment to the BRS and emphasized that he would not compromise with Revanth.
“Revanth has stooped to such a low level and Congress leaders are following suit. From now on, the BRS does not need Revanth. I will fight to ensure BRS retains power in Telangana,” he stated firmly.
He also touched upon the issue of MLAs who had switched parties, suggesting that by-elections were inevitable.
“After the High Court ruling, the MLAs who changed parties are trembling. By-elections in 10 constituencies are certain, and if those who switched have any shame they should resign immediately,” Kaushik declared and called for accountability.
Clarifying his stance on the term ‘settlers,’ he denied using it in a divisive manner. “I have never used the term ‘settlers’ to divide people.
When KCR was Chief Minister, Andhra settlers were treated with respect and they stood by BRS during elections. Now, some forces trying to alienate them from us,” he said, stressing that BRS values inclusivity.
Kaushik concluded by thanking KCR, KTR and Harish Rao, along with BRS activists. He called on Congress to halt its divisive tactics and warned that the party would not survive if it failed to fulfil its guarantees.
“If the Congress does not implement its six guarantees, its leaders will have no place on the streets,” he remarked, adding that the public is watching everything closely.
