Revanth Reddy’s challenge is giving the shivers to sitting BRS MLAs although some of them have put on a brave face.
Even though Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said that all sitting MLAs will get tickets, Revanth’s challenge has become a point of discussion.
Revanth had said that to prove their confidence in the BRS’ nine-year rule, KCR should re-nominate all sitting MLAs and also announce that he would seek re-election from Gajwel. He claimed that surveys conducted by the Chief Minister had revealed that 80% of the 104 MLAs would be defeated and that the CM has lost confidence in himself as well. Revanth had said that the BRS was suffering from fear of defeat.
Sources said that there is always a list of non-performing MLAs but this is also a game by Revanth to create uncertainty. While the number doing rounds in BRS circles is 30 to 40 MLAs, Revanth’s statement about 80% of MLAs has created fear among BRS MLAs.
Earlier, they had confidence that despite challenges and dissidence from competitors in their constituencies their seats would be secure. Sources said that this time definitely there is uncertainty for a few, but his claims of 80% including the CM are baseless.
“Can KCR lose confidence? He is a well-read politician. If what he says is true why didn’t he predict his defeat in Kodangal,” a BRS leader asked. Meanwhile, internal fights are surfacing among BRS leaders. Pilot Rohit Reddy called Patnam Mahender Reddy an outdated leader, that too a day after KTR thanked the contributions of Patnam Avinash Reddy and others. Earlier, Kadiyam Srihari and Thatatikonda Rajaiah had levelled charges against each other.
