‘Rice millers asked to give bank guarantee’

NTR District Joint Collector S Nupur Ajay Kumar has made it clear that all millers should give bank guarantee by December 1 without fail, as the Kharif paddy procurement is progressing at a brisk pace. As of now, only 17 millers have submitted bank guarantees so far and the remaining millers should give bank guarantees as soon as possible, he said.

With a view to speeding up paddy procurement in the district, JC Nupur conducted a meeting with all rice millers at the video conference hall in Vijayawada on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, she said that paddy procurement had been progressing at a brisk pace and it would be further expedited in the coming days. So, the millers should be ready to take paddy and provide gunny bags to respective contractors, she said. “If any miller is found negligent in providing gunny bags, action will be taken,” she warned.

She further said the custodian officers who were posted at the rice mills should unload paddy without delay. The milling process will start on November 28, she said. Transport charges would be paid to the farmers who transport the paddy from the paddy procurement centres to the rice mills. She said millers should cooperate with the government for purchasing paddy in the district.

Deputy Transport Commissioner Purendra, Civil Supplies Department District Manager Sivarama Murthy, DSO P Komali Padma, and Rice Millers Association district president Srinivas attended the meeting.
