Actor Nithiin’s latest film, Robinhood, released on March 28, has failed to impress at the box office, putting his next project, Thammudu, in a tricky position. Sources suggest that the makers are now considering delaying its release.
Directed by Venky Kudumula, Robinhood was heavily promoted by Nithiin, but its commercial failure has led to concerns over the business prospects of Thammudu. Kudumula had previously delivered a hit with Bheeshma (2021), which remains Nithiin’s only major success in recent years.
Thammudu, directed by Venu Sriram and produced by Dil Raju, was initially scheduled for release on May 9. However, with major releases like Hit 3 (starring Nani) and Retro (starring Suriya) hitting theaters on May 1, there is speculation that Thammudu might be pushed to a later date.
A major selling point for Thammudu is its title, which shares its name with Pawan Kalyan’s blockbuster film. Given Nithiin’s admiration for Pawan Kalyan, the title was an intentional nod to the actor.
Producer Dil Raju is reportedly taking extra precautions regarding the film’s release, actively discussing the best strategy with director Venu Sriram.
