Robotic technology needed in farming: MVS Nagi Reddy

MVS Nagi Reddy, Vice Chairman of AP Agriculture Mission, has said that the government’s objective is to ensure that the farmers are happy and their produce should get a Minimum Support Price (MSP). Advanced robotic technology is needed in the field of agriculture, he said.

He was addressing an interactive programme organised under the auspices of the AP Agriculture Mission on Friday presided over by Krishna District Collector Ranjith Basha and representatives of agriculture and allied sectors.

Nagi Reddy said that as per the instructions of CM Jagan Mohan Reddy, he is visiting all the districts across the State. The YSRC government is supporting the farmers better than the neighboring states and to provide MSP to the farmers’ produce. He recalled that in 2019 a record 80.13 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was produced and said that it would be broken during the current season. He said that the government is ready to procure 40 to 45 lakh tonnes of paddy and the farmers should be ready. He asked the officials to resolve the issues with patience and that the farmers should be treated like brothers.

Collector Ranjith Basha said that the authorities are trying to solve the issues faced by the farmers right from selling seeds to procuring the farmers’ produce. He said that 100 per cent e-crop procurement was done in the district and 4.39 lakh acres agriculture and horticulture crop was registered under e crop. Ninety-three per cent of e-KYC work was done and efforts are being made to complete the remaining 7 per cent, the Collector.

The collector said that during the last three years 1.5 lakh farmers were igiven Rs 425 crore under the Rythu Bharosa scheme besides Rs 120 crore under crop insurance and Rs 28 crore under crop loan with zero interest. A total of Rs 700 crore benefit was done to the farmers in the district during the last three years, the Collector said.

Horticulture Officer J Jyothi, Animal Husbandry officer Dr Chandrasekhar, Fisheries Officer Srinivas Rao, Sericulture Officer Satyanarayana, Micro Irrigation Officer Vijayalakshmi and others were present.
