Two persons were killed when they were accidentally pierced with cockfight knives during cockfights in Kakinada and East Godavari districts.
Police said that one Gande Prakash (45) was killed when a sharp-edged blade, which was tied to the leg of a rooster during a cockfight, flew onto him, inflicting deep injury at Velanka village in Kirlampudi mandal of Kakinada district.
Police said that when the deceased was watching the cockfight, one of the roosters flew toward the deceased in its bid to escape. In the melee, the sharp-edged knife lacerated his knee, resulting in his suffering bleeding injury. He collapsed in the cockfight arena and was later shifted to the GGH where he was declared brought dead.
In another similar incident, Katti Padma Raju suffered a bleeding injury when a sharp-edged knife, used in the cockfights, inflicted bleeding injury on his leg when he was watching a cockfight at Ananthapalli in Nallajarla manal of EG district. He died while being shifted to the GGH. Nallajarla police registered a case on the incident.
