The sixth State-level Agricultural and Horticulture Show and fifth Rose Show, jointly organised by the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, Haritha Priya Plant Lovers Society and the Rose Society of Andhra Pradesh, began at the Siddhartha Hotel Management College in Vijayawada on Thursday. NTR District Collector Dr S Dilli Rao inaugurated the shows and visited the stalls. He appreciated the Rose Society of Andhra Pradesh for its efforts to keep Vijayawada city pleasant. The organisers have arranged 70 stalls for the show.
The Collector said that people would enjoy the Agricultural, Horticultural and Rose Show a lot. Plants have been brought from Bengaluru and Kolkata. The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation is taking steps to set up nurseries in the city, he added.
He further said that VMC was taking steps for the beautification of the road on both sides. About 100 Millingtonia and Jafra plants will be grown on both sides of the road within three months, he said. He referred to South Africa’s capital city Johannesburg, which was being developed as a tourist centre with the Blooming tree flowing.
VMC Commissioner Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar, former MP and Laila Group of Companies chairman Gokaraju Ganga Raju, DCP Mary Prasanthi, Rose Society of Andhra Pradesh president GSR Mohana Rao and secretary N Padma Priya were present.
