Urging to construct Gunadala flyover, the Gunadala Flyover Sadhana Committee organised a roundtable meeting with locals and various associations at Gunadala in Vijayawada on Sunday.
Addressing the gathering, CPM secretariat member Ch Babu Rao said that they would conduct protests in a phased manner with the demand. The bridge construction works have not been undertaken despite a foundation stone being laid 14 years ago.
He alleged that so far, no work had been undertaken at all, even though five chief ministers and three governments came during the period. He alleged that the State government as well as the Central government neglected the bridge construction. The YSRCP government went back on its assurance of constructing the flyover.
He said that Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu, who has been the MLA for nine years, totally ignored the flyover construction. Babu Rao stated that due to the negligence of the government, lakhs of people were facing hardships as they had to cross the rails. Accidents also take place sometimes. He urged the people to come forward and participate in the agitation for bridge construction.
He further said that they would submit memorandums, collect signatures from the public and organise a Maha Dharna and a 24-hour hunger strike.
Committee members Sk Shakila, Ajay, Krishnayya, Venkat, Suresh, Prasanna and others were present.
