Energy Minister Gottipati Ravikumar announced that the Andhra Pradesh Integrated Clean Energy Policy, 2024, is set to attract investments worth Rs 10 lakh crore and create nearly 7.5 lakh employment opportunities. The implementation of the policy is underway, focusing on clean energy, job creation, and economic growth.
On Wednesday, AP Transco and AP Genco, in collaboration with the state government, launched the 2025 dairy and calendars at the State Secretariat in Amaravati. The event was attended by Chief Secretary K Vijayanand, AP Genco MD KVN Chakradhar Babu, and the Energy Minister. During the occasion, the Minister extended New Year greetings to the AP Transco and AP Genco teams, appreciating their dedicated efforts in ensuring a steady supply of quality power to consumers, in line with the vision of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
Minister Ravikumar highlighted that the government is taking substantial steps to reform the power sector, with a focus on transitioning from crisis management to welfare. He emphasized that the newly introduced AP Integrated Clean Energy Policy is expected to generate Rs 10 lakh crore in investments, resulting in job opportunities for approximately 7.5 lakh people. Additionally, AP Transco is set to implement projects worth Rs 15,729 crore, which will include the establishment of 71 substations, an increase in transmission capacity by 16,507 MVA, and the construction of 4,696 km of transmission lines.
The Minister also congratulated the AP Genco team for their entry into the pump storage project (PSP) sector under the leadership of CM Chandrababu Naidu.
AP Genco plans to set up its own 1350 MW PSP in the Upper Seeler region as part of this initiative. Furthermore, the Minister shared plans for the construction of five joint-venture pumped storage projects (PSPs) with a total capacity of 5000 MW to meet peak load demands. An MoU has been signed with the central public sector company NHPC for the project, marking a significant milestone for the state’s power sector.
Senior officials present at the event included AP Transco Director AKV Bhaskar, AP Genco Director for Hydel/FAC M Sujay Kumar, Director for Thermal/FAC P Ashok Kumar Reddy, Director for HR/FAC P Naveen Gautam, along with chief engineers and CGMs from AP Transco and AP Genco.
