Must read

Amid the TDP’s membership crossing one crore in just a few days, the party’s National General Secretary and Minister for Education,  Nara Lokesh, on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with insurance companies to provide coverage for all one crore party activists.
Lokesh, along with representatives from United India Insurance and Pragmatic Insurance Broking Services, marked a historic milestone. The TDP thus became the first political party in the country to offer insurance security to one crore activists.
Under the agreement, the party has paid Rs 42 crore as the first premium to provide insurance coverage to its activists for the full year, from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025. The party plans to make similar payments next year. As per the MoU, every party activist is eligible for Rs 5 lakh accidental insurance.
Since assuming the role of leader of the party workers’ welfare, Lokesh has been introducing several pioneering initiatives. So far, the party has spent an impressive Rs 138 crore for the welfare of its cadre. Additionally, a dedicated legal wing has been established to handle court cases filed against TDP activists during the previous YSRCP regime.
A special cell has also been set up at the TDP central office to offer immediate assistance to party workers in case of accidents. On behalf of the NTR Trust, residential schools have been established in Hyderabad and Challapalli in Krishna district to provide free education to the children of deceased party activists.
